This team has a driving philosophy that:

Learning to think and thinking to Learn

  • The Learning intention for accelerate students is to become self-regulated learners.  Students will have the opportunity to decide, plan and organise own learning.  The learning focus is on skills and the process of learning.  Content and knowledge is important but the need for skills to process knowledge to gain real understanding is crucial because it gives them transferable skills for future learning.

  • This philosophy is achieved by: 

  • Blooms Taxonomy supports the thinking programme.  Students learn how to think and what thinking tools and strategies to use to extend their thinking.

  • Knowledge Net is an IT learning tool to support the learner.  It enables students to develop resources, for their own learning, supporting personalised learning.  It is a communication tool between school and home providing parents with the opportunity to be part of their child’s learning.

The teams expectations of their students is that they:

  • Have a responsibility to achieve with excellence in all facets of school and take every opportunity to maximise learning experiences.  It is our expectation that our students are able to fluently and clearly articulate their learning and their thinking processes.
