Our 21st Century Challenge

The most exciting breakthrough of the 21st Century has not occurred because of technology but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be a 21st Century Learner within this rapidly changing digital era.

What technology provides is 24/7 access to a world of information and collaborative learning partners.  This exciting situation has created the opportunity for teachers to design learning experiences that can build on the natural curiosity, connectedness, creativity and courage of students to challenge their learning and beliefs.

Our intention at RIS is to move our curriculum beyond the traditional focus and fixation on the Three Rs to focus on skills that foster critical thinking, creativity and problem solving skills through authentic learning experiences.  We are preparing young people for an ever changing world of uncertainty; therefore what will be needed are skilful thinkers and collaborative learners.

and you feed him for a lifetime.
